In 2003 Lexus introduced their third luxury SUV offering and we think you will love this one. Our GX 470 is based on the rugged Toyota 4Runner, providing Lexus a mid-size option between the car-like RX and Land Cruiser-based LX 470 that starts off as a truck chassis making it substantially beefier than the RX. This GX comes equipped with additional off road features that were absent from the other Lexus models making this a real treat to own. The GX 470 was fitted with the latest off-road management system and adjustable suspension for the model year 2003. This GX 470 utilized the same power plant as the larger LX. The 4.7 liter V-8 made 235 horsepower and provided 320 pound-feet of torque which allows it to compete power wise with the Suburbans and Expeditions with the exception of being a pristine Lexus that doesn't have that farm truck feel. Off the line, they say the GX reaches 60 mph in just under eight seconds an does well in the braking department too! As you can expect, any bigger SUV will get 12-15 for miles per gallon but the GX comes in with an impressive near 20mpg if driven sensibly.
